PACE Recruitment, Scotland’s first social enterprise recruitment company is now offering jobseekers the opportunity to improve their chances of employment through pre-recruitment training.

Money from Fife Council’s Development Services Social Enterprise Development Fund has helped BRAG Enterprises (Benarty Regeneration Action Group) launch PACE Recruitment’s new pre-recruitment programme.

Pre-recruitment training covers the essential skills to help expand employment possibilities for candidates who know the career they are looking for, but don’t know how to gain the skills needed to fit the job description.

Fife based company MGt, a leading provider of support services to some of the biggest names in the UK broadcast industry, will benefit from the first pre-recruitment programme. The course has attracted a lot of interest and 12 applicants have been selected from different backgrounds across West Fife. The course runs for six weeks and will focus on strengthening core skills such as team building, IT development, telephone communication, interview techniques and building self confidence. The course will prepare candidates for a presentation they will give in front of a guest audience, followed by interviews held in April at MGt’s assessment centre which if they pass, will lead to a position at the company.

Duncan Mitchell from PACE Recruitment said: “The money received from the Social Enterprise Development Fund has been crucial to getting this programme up and running. We’ve had a great deal of interest in the course and we’re hoping that since we’ve uncovered this niche that more pre-recruitment training programmes will follow. All of the candidates selected are currently unemployed and hopefully those people who weren’t successful on this occasion can take part next time.”

Ken McFarlane, Head of Training at MGt, commented: “MGt is pleased to be the first company involved in this worthwhile project. There has been an increasing demand for courses that unlock potential, providing candidates with the skills needed for the transition into a successful career. It is great that these organisations have come together to make sure this innovative scheme has the investment it needs. ”
