MGt, the leading support services provider to digital TV and broadcast industry, has introduced a formal staff development, training and qualification initiative – The MGt Academy.
The digital broadcast market is experiencing a major transformation and there is a real need to attract and retain talent in the industry. The Training Academy has been created as a response to this.
The Academy opens up routes to access all forms and levels of training and education from Scottish Vocational Qualifications, modern apprenticeships, Higher National Certificates/Diplomas and management development programmes. Courses available include computing, administration, customer management and personal development and will be delivered on site at MGt, at the Adam Smith College, online and through distance learning.
The MGt Academy has been working closely with the Adam Smith College Fife in order to deliver on and off site formal qualifications. 12 employees at MGt have so far completed the SVQ’s in Call Handling. They are the first employees to receive a qualification from the Academy.
MGt has experienced consistent growth since its foundation in 1998. MGt is one of the largest employers in Fife. The company currently employs 1,200 staff across six locations within the UK and has an annual turnover of more than £16million. MGt recently opened a new office to serve its growing customer base, which created in excess of 200 jobs.
MGt manages the entire customer lifecycle on behalf of clients from acquisition and fulfilment to connection and payment . Broadcast clients such as Sky, Freeview, NTL, Top Up TV, Discovery Networks, Sony Entertainment, Setanta Sports and Zee rely on MGt’s expertise to look after their subscription management and viewer relationships.
“MGt is committed to providing the highest level of service, both to our staff and customers, so we have always heavily invested in training and development – particularly in customer service and computer based applications,” said Moira Brown, Director of HR at MGt. “Over the past eight years we have developed many of our own training packages and, due to their success, we were keen to seek a more formal approach to our training activities.”
Jonathan Guthrie, Chief Executive at MGt complemented the successful employees, the MGt Academy team and their community and education partners. He said, “I am very proud of the work MGt has always done in training and development and see the MGt Academy as the next step in providing the very best opportunities for our employees and their families. I am delighted that the major investments we have made, both in people and technology, are paying dividends.”
