Post title: Systems Consultant Team/Department: MGt Technology Solutions
Hours of work: Full time Based: Kirkcaldy

Post Information:

Evaluate, plan, specify and take the lead role in implementing new systems.
To undertake systems and software consultancy with another company in your specialisation when required.
To direct and lead Information Systems projects within the formal project management policies, ensuring that deliverables are achieved to timescale, within budget and to the defined quality standards.
To develop plans (new systems and enhancements to current systems) in line with the business strategy and identified business priorities.
To identify and communicate opportunities for the business to utilise Information Technology for competitive advantage.
To analyse and design business processes using standard techniques and tools at all stages of the systems lifecycle.
To analyse and design business data requirements and produce documentation to relevant standards.
To define business system requirements and produce system documentation.
To design, build and implement information systems following specified standards, methods and processes and produce system documentation to relevant standards.
To undertake unit & integration testing of subordinate code development and provide appropriate documentation to substantiate testing activities.
To maintain all policies and procedures used within the role.
To evaluate and select products and tools appropriate to the function.
To build and maintain business and technical systems product knowledge appropriate to the position.
To develop and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and contacts within appropriate industries.
To organise and conduct user workshops (e.g. for requirements clarification and prototype evaluation).
To conduct presentations and briefings at all levels.
To organise and conduct reviews appropriate to the software development lifecycle.
To analyse technical issues and recommend solutions.
To undertake software development control activities where necessary such as:
- Configuration Control Manager
- Build Controller
- Metrics Analyst
- Tool Specialist
- Design/Code Reviewer
- Quality Manager

Experience:

You will be expected to demonstrate a combination of skills and depending upon the primary focus on the project, you will draw from the following:

Skills and experience:

Minimum 18 months Business Systems Consultant or equivalent experience.

Communication skills.

3 years Software Engineering experience and Senior Software Engineering experience.

Experience of project management methods and techniques.

Qualifications:

Min 5 GCSE or equivalent, including Mathematics and English Language

HND (or above) in computer related course (or 5 years related experience)

Other Information:

Specialist training required:

System dependant – may require operating system, and specialist application training.
